New York University Tisch School of the Arts
Summer Program for High School
Sophomores & Juniors
High school sophomores and juniors are invited to be a part of the New York
University Tisch School of the Arts Summer High School Program. Students create
and collaborate with other high school students from around the world and earn
four to six college credits. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to discover
their artistic potential and build their creative portfolio for college!
Extended Application Deadline: February 1, 2021
Program Dates: July 11 - August 7, 2021
Students explore the possibilities of storytelling in emerging media and the
cinematic and performing arts. Courses are taught by full-time Tisch faculty,
with opportunities to showcase creative work.

Dance
The dance training consists of improvisation, Master Classes in contemporary
styles, and Repertory. Students learn from established New York City-based dance
artists and will get to share their own compositions in weekly showings with faculty.

Drama
This is an immersion in conservatory training as students hone their craft as a
theatre artist through one of these studios: Atlantic Acting Studio, Experimental
Theatre Wing, Meisner, New Studio Music Theatre, Production and Design, or the
Stonestreet Screen Acting Workshop.

Dramatic Writing
Students learn what it takes to write for the stage and screen. Through workshop
sessions students will write a partial script of a full-length screenplay and a
monologue and ten-minute play. There will be a presentation of work in a final
virtual showcase.

Filmmaking
Juniors produce music videos and short films as they develop their directing,
shooting, and editing skills. Students will be introduced to documentary,
experimental, and narrative approaches to filmmaking, and learn the basics of
screenwriting.

Game Design
Students in this track build a foundation and earn skills in game literacy, game
design, and game development. The intensive workshops introduce students to
various areas of modern game development such as game design, programming,
visual art, animation, sound design, and writing.

Photography + Imaging
Students will use digital photography to tell stories. They will explore
communication and creative expression through image-making and learn basic
Photoshop and digital color printing.

Recorded Music
Students interested in recorded music will be entrepreneurs-in-training as
they study how music is recorded, produced, and distributed to consumers. They
will receive technical training in the latest studio hardware and take master classes
in topics such as touring, artist management, and digital media.
