ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Homeland Security College
Certificate Program is designed
to provide a comprehensive
overview of terrorism and various
international, national, and historic
examples to better understand
this complex problem. This
program focuses on converting
theory and awareness into
pragmatic strategies to help
practitioners develop informed
responses to the threat of
terrorism. The program will
place emphasis on the public,
private, and legal responses
to threats and specific skills
designed to help students
respond strategically to real
situation emergencies.
Students will apply their
knowledge and skills to develop
specific plans at the local level
to enhance public awareness
and local security. The Certificate
Program in Homeland Security is designed for managers, administrators,
officers and those responsible for developing and implementing strategies
and procedures in Homeland Security.
WHAT DO HOMELAND SECURITY PERSONS DO?
Homeland Security individuals are prepared to work in areas that include
risk management and systems integration. Their training includes an
understanding of security threats in public and private settings, and the
legal, political, and ethical issues associated with homeland security.
WHERE DO THEY WORK?
Homeland Security Officers may work for the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security, which includes the U.S. Customs Office, the U.S. Border Patrol
and the U.S. Secret Service. Some special agents, such as those in the U.S.
