WHEREAS, the District is legally permitted to reclaim unclaimed funds
previously transferred to that holding account; and
WHEREAS, advances from the general fund to various funds are needed to
avoid month-end deficits; and
WHEREAS, advances are to be returned to the general fund as soon as
funds are available;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education

IV. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
A. FOR YOUR INFORMATION
1. “Improve Student Achievement”
Mrs. Royko, an English teacher from Eastlake Middle School is with us this
evening to briefly explain the 8th grade English class student book project, how it
has evolved over the years, and where she sees it heading in the future. She will
introduce students from last year and each will read a selection from his or her
book. Students may then comment about what they liked about writing the piece
or about their process.

2. Race to the Top Update
Becky Quinn, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment will provide an
update as to the district’s progress to date.
3. State Report Update
Rolanda Schonauer, Director of Pupil Services, will present a summary of our
student enrollment and district report card.
B. RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Special Services Agreements
WHEREAS, the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District is responsible for
providing appropriate education for all students with disabilities who live within
the district; and
WHEREAS, the individual needs of some students with disabilities are best
served by programs operated outside of the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools; and
WHEREAS, special programs for students with disabilities are provided by the
Beachwood City Schools, Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism, Crossroads,
Healthcare Process Consulting, Inc., Homecare Network, Korenko Therapy
Services, Inc., Lake County Educational Service Center, Maxim Health Care
Services, Inc., Mayfield City School District, PSI Affiliates, Inc., Suburban
School Transportation, WilloTransportation and Wingspan Care Group;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Willoughby-Eastlake Board of
Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into agreements with
the above named institutions for the purpose of providing special services to
students with disabilities.
2. Overnight/Out of District Field Trip Request
WHEREAS, Board policy provides procedures for approval of certain field trips;
and
WHEREAS, an educational trip has been requested for the senior class from
North High School to attend Washington D.C. from Friday, November 9, 2012 to
Sunday, November 11, 2012; and
WHEREAS, the required information has been provided to the Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a waiver be granted for the one
school day missed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the requested permission be granted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a waiver be granted for the
two school days missed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the requested permission be granted.
4. Personnel Agenda
WHEREAS, the Superintendent has recommended employment of the persons
shown on the attached Personnel Agenda for the positions shown; and
WHEREAS, those supplementary positions, which are being filled by non-
certificated, non-district employees, or retired certificated persons, have been
advertised in accordance with all legal rules and requirements, and no other
qualified employees have been found; and
WHEREAS, all persons are employed pending receipt of satisfactory records
from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, the Ohio
Department of Education, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and final
receipt of appropriate required certification/licensure;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the attached Personnel Agenda be
adopted.
