NON-LUCRATIVE RESIDENCE VISA
Applicants must personally submit the application form for this visa, along with the following
documents:
1. National visa application form: dully and completely filled, in English or Spanish, signed and
dated by applicants themselves. The application form can be collected from the Embassy or
downloaded from this website:

2. One recent passport sized photographs
3. Application form for non- lucrative residence visa “EX-01” to be filled with the applicant’s
address in Spain. The form can be downloaded from the following link (available in Spanish only):

4. The taxes of this residence visa must be paid at the Embassy through the application “Modelo
790-052”. It can be downloaded (available in Spanish only):

5. Passport: original, one copy of the first page of the passport and copy of valid UAE residence visa.
Passport should have a validity of at least one year from the application date.
6. Proof of financial means, which includes a detailed personal bank statement for the last 12
months (with original stamp from the bank) and any other property/real estate purchase deeds in
order to support yourself during your stay in Spain.
7. Good conduct certificate or equivalent (only for applicants over 18 years old) issued by the local
police authorities of the country (countries) of residence over the last 5 years. The certificate issued
by the UAE must be legalized by the MOFA. Certificates issued by third countries must also be
legalized by the Spanish Embassy in that country. Kindly note that the Hague Apostille might be
required for certificates issued by third countries.

8. Medical certificate stating explicitly that the applicant does not have any disease according to
the International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005. This certificate must be legalized by the UAE
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Certificates issued by third countries must also be legalized by the
Spanish Embassy in that country. Kindly note that the Hague Apostille might be required for
certificates issued by third countries.
This document must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator.
9. Medical insurance covering the applicant for any desease that he/she might suffer while living
in Spain: Insurance must be valid for the duration of the requested visa. Conditions must be stated
either on the insurance document or on a separate confirmation letter stamped by the insurance
company.
The policy must include: no deductibles, franchises or co-payment.
Additional documents for applicant’s dependents:
a) Marriage certificate for the spouse. Certificate must have been issued less than 6 months before
submitting the application.
b) Birth certificates for children.
These certificates must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE or the issuing country if
not the UAE. In this case, the document must be legalized by the Spanish Embassy in that country.
Kindly note that documents issued in third countries, the Hague Apostille might be required.
These documents must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator.
9. Motivation letter: personal statement explaining the reasons to choose Spain as new country of
residence. It must especify the city in Spain where the applicant is planing to settle.
10. Personal interview: after submiting the application, visa officers may decide to conduct a
personal interview with the applicant. The interview will be in Spanish, so applicants are requiered
to provide an official interpreter.
11. Processing time is around 3 months from the date of submission. Kindly note that this period
could be longer, depending on the issuance of the residence permit by the competent local
authority in Spain.
